The Meade LX70 Equatorial Mount comes standard with one 11.4 pound counterweight, while the LX70 telescope packages tend to come with enough counterweight to balance the package’s included optical tube assembly. If you plan to add more equipment, or a heavier OTA to the mount, you will want to add another counterweight so you can easily balance the total weight of your load.

The Meade LX70 Counterweight weighs 11.4 pounds, and is 6 inches in diameter. It is anodized white to match the mount, and has a center bore that is approximately .8” in diameter, allowing the counterweight to slide onto the LX70 counterweight shaft and lock safely into place with the silver lock knob.
