Build up your observing arsenal with the 4.5mm Series 5000 HD-60 eyepiece from Meade Instruments!   When compared to a classic Plossl, you'll find that the Meade HD-60 eyepieces have a wider field of view and a lot more eye relief.  The six-element design, composed of premium exotic glass, displays a 60 degree apparent field of view.  Objects near the edges of the field are not distorted due to the flat field design incorporated into the Series 5000 HD-60; instead, they are tack sharp. In fact, you'll experience a 40 percent improvement in corrections for edge distortion and chromatic aberrations over our comparison Plossl.  Super fully multi-coatings produce images that are high in contrast, with excellent color rendition.

The Meade HD-60 Eyepieces all have long eye relief of no less than 16.8mm.  Eyeglass wearers needn't worry about comfortable, full field viewing with these high-tech eyepieces, and those of us lucky enough to have long eyelashes will enjoy having enough "breathing room" between the lash and the glass.  It might sound silly, but eyelashes are one of the leading causes of smudges on eyepiece optics, and because the smudge is usually oil-based, it can't be removed with a simple lens brush.  Keeping eyelashes away from the glass means you won't have to clean your optics as often and chance scratching the coatings. 

All Series 5000 HD-60 eyepieces have blackened lens edges to cut down on internal reflections, and a rubber eye cup to help keep stray light from glancing off your optics and thus decreasing contrast.  Fold the rubber eyecup down when wearing eyeglasses for a nice, flat, cushioned surface to rest your glasses against.
